Standby power.
Engineered in.
Kohler residential and commercial standby generators for Vancouver Island homes and businesses. Designed during construction or retrofitted into finished properties — sized for the load that matters, coordinated with the rest of the home's electrical and automation system so the lights stay on and the home keeps running.
Kohler generators, sized to the load.
Kohler standby generators
Residential and commercial Kohler standby generators with automatic transfer switches, sound-attenuated enclosures, and integration into the home automation system. Our primary backup-power practice on Vancouver Island for three generations.
Sizes we typically install
- 14kW – critical-load coverage (HVAC, refrigeration, lighting, network, security)
- 20kW – mid-size home, partial-load coverage
- 26kW – full-house residential standby
- 38kW–48kW – estates and complex multi-panel installations
Generator service & maintenance
Annual oil, filters, batteries, load testing, and exercise-schedule audits as part of WennerCare. Generators that aren't tested under load are the ones that fail to start during the storm — we don't let that happen on our installs.
WennerCare generator service
- Annual maintenance visit — oil, filters, battery, load test
- Remote monitoring of run-time and fault codes
- Same-day response on fault events
- Coordination with fuel supplier for propane refills on rural properties
Battery & solar — design support
Battery storage and solar PV aren't our primary practice. On projects where they're part of the brief, we provide design and integration coordination — and we install Enphase IQ Battery systems where it's the right fit. Solar array installation itself is delivered by specialist solar partners.
How we contribute
- Electrical design coordination on solar + battery scopes
- Integration into the Crestron or Lutron platform (charge level, grid status)
- Generator-and-battery transfer-switch logic
- Enphase IQ Battery install on selected projects
Designed in, not bolted on.
The cleanest standby-power installations are designed at the architectural stage. The generator pad gets located during the site plan. The fuel line, transfer switch, and sub-panel get drawn before the trades arrive on site. The integration into the home automation platform gets specified at the same time as everything else that ends in a wire.
For finished properties, the conversation starts with: which loads matter? Once we know whether you want full-house backup or just essentials, the system size and cost follow naturally.
And critically: the same team that installs is the team that services. Annual maintenance contracts (oil, filters, batteries, load testing) are part of WennerCare. Generators that aren't tested under load are the ones that fail to start in the storm — we don't let that happen on our installs.
