Situated on a stunning waterfront location in Nanaimo’s Stevenson Point, this 5500 square foot contemporary West Coast new build by Dogwood Mountain Homes was a classic opportunity to match home automation technology with discerning clients who were technology savvy, but were looking for guidance on how to integrate it into their home ensuring simplicity was at the forefront of design and application.
The Wenner Group was involved in the entire project, including design and planning of all electrical and lighting, automation, audio/video and security. Working closely with the clients and the General Contractor (Dogwood Mountain Homes), we devised a plan that would ensure that our single point Project Manager would orchestrate all of our required resources to be onsite when needed to meet project timelines without compromising quality.
Simplicity was the cornerstone of our approach to the automation in this house. With a requirement to fully integrate the entire house, not only lighting and audio/video but also the shading of massive bedroom windows with both blackout and light shades, plus a range of special features like patio heaters and fire bowls and main gate, we needed to incorporate a simple single interface. Control4 was the answer and despite challenging space limitations for equipment racking, a pragmatic builder and decisive client made the central hidden racking solution a real winner.
Our team delivered a fully functioning, integrated home, that can be controlled and monitored from multiple touchscreens and remotes in-house, or from anywhere the client’s overseas travels take them. Technology at it’s very best…..making life simple.
